Trading of crude and refined
Products.
We advise traders, oil companies, banks and others on the
contractual arrangements for the sale and purchase of crude
and refined petroleum products. We deal regularly with
contracts on CIF, FOB, C&F, FOR, ex ship and ex tank
terms.
Aspects on which our input is frequently sought include:
• shortage and quality
• letters of credit and other secured payment
mechanisms
• repudiatory breach and other non-performance issues
• force majeure and government intervention
• passing of title and risk.
Hedging and futures contracts
We are familiar with and regularly advise on:
• trading on the terminals markets (for example,
International Petroleum Exchange)
• trading on an OTC basis
• arbitration and disciplinary proceedings under various
terminals markets rules
• OTC derivatives transactions.
