As part of the continuing diversification initiatives, also informed by our concern for health and coupled by our drive to nourish the world, macadamia nuts processing was introduced in an export processing zone within our own farm in Kiambu County in Central Highlands of Kenya near Nairobi. This line of business is run by our subsidiary Sasini Fruits & Nuts EPZ Kenya Limited. The venturing into Macadamia business was mainly to align our unwritten mantra – ‘nourishing our world’, with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 3, to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages. The mature nuts in shell in their unprocessed form are sourced from other well managed and controlled farms within the region. The company has also intercropped macadamia trees with the coffee trees within our vast estates to sustain future production and supplies.
