My family, under the name of Haji Sattar Haji Peer Mohammed, has been in the food, grain, jute, and pulses business for the last 100 years, with over 50 branch offices all over India. Our family had made a large financial contribution to the creation of Pakistan, as documented in the book “The Rise and Fall of the Walmart’s of India” by Mr. Iqbal Ismail. In 1947 our family migrated to Pakistan and started business under the name of A.R.Mohammed Siddik. Subsequently, we set up 7 industries which included a G.I.Pipe factory, a Flour Mill, a Tin Factory, 3 Oil Mills, and had 9 branch offices in the former East Pakistan (Bangladesh). After the independence of Bangladesh, our family’s focus turned to Pakistan where we set up 7 family owned factories. These included a Flour Mill, 3 Cotton Ginning units, 2 Oil Mills, a Rice Mill, along with a 33% share in Mohammedi Steam Ship Company, which were eventually nationalized by the Government in 1972-3. We are regularly Selling: rice, cement, home textile, used clothing, safety matches, dog leashes, footballs. We are regularly Buying: whey powder, pulses, all kinds of scrap, smp, 50% diminerelized whey powder, kabuli chana. |
