Onacar is a community based development organization registered as a Self Help Group by the government of Kenya.
Our major focus is poverty eradication in the village of Onsongo and Kisumu through
1. Production, Sales and marketing of soapstone crafts & jewels
2. Farming; Maize and Vegetables
3. Micro-finance; Savings & Credit
4. Education; Teaching art as an income generating activity to women groups, development organizations and communities in Western Kenya
5. Community Healthcare
6. Tours and travels in & around Kisumu
The group consist of men and women of Onsongo village and poor slum dwellers.
Among the members we have widows and unemployed youth from the impoverished villages and slums. We are regularly Selling: african jewels, african mud-cloths, banana fibre cards, maize, soapstone bars, soapstone carvings, tours and travels, vegetables, wood carvings. We are regularly Buying: farm inputs, beads, raw soapstone.
