Christmas card and holiday history.
Christmas is a Christian holiday, which is dedicated to the birth of Jesus Christ. Officially, Christmas is celebrated on December 25th in the U.S. For many, Christmas vacation at schools, colleges and businesses lasts till the New Year.
Christmas is a jolly family holiday. Family members give each other Christmas gifts. In modern times, a new custom has started where Christmas cars via the internet to the friends and relatives. People also give each other printed Christmas card with a wish for Merry Christmas. In preparing for the holiday, people set up a Christmas tree in the biggest room of the house and decorate it with ornaments and lights.
Children usually wait for Santa Claus, who goes to every house and brings them Christmas gifts. On Christmas Eve, children place their stockings on the chimney and Santa Claus rewards them with candy and small gifts. This custom is related to the legend that tells us about the poor girls who would hang their socks near the fireplace to get them dry. In the morning, though, they would find little bags filled with golden coins, brought by St. Nicolas, in each sock.
While we cannot give you bags of gold, our Christmas cards will help you wish your friends and family a very Merry Christmas!
